Does God answer prayers?
Why does it seem that when we pray to God, He sometimes ignores us? Many people have prayed for God to solve a problem, but God’s response is sometimes silence. What is the serenity prayer?
God knows what’s best
Even when we don’t see God responding to our prayers, we can rest assured that He is a God of love, as the Bible tells us: John 3:16. ‘For God so LOVED the world…… Jeremiah 31:3, I have loved thee with an everlasting love.
Right way
“I will pour water upon him who is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground,” says Isaiah 44:3. God’s blessing cannot be received unless the heart is open to the Spirit’s influence; one cannot pour water into a cup that is already full.
Right heart
God will not hear our prayers if we hold on to cherished sins or refuse to forgive others who have wronged us. This is not to say that you can earn God’s favor to answer your prayers; it will always be Jesus’ blood that makes us worthy.
Pray without ceasing
In Philippians 4:6, Paul writes, “Let your requests be made known to God in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving,” and in Luke 18:1, Jesus “spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”
His time, His will
Because we are sinners who do not always ask what is best for us, we should not expect every answer to be “yes.” God’s timetable is not the same as ours, and He knows better than we do when the best time is for our prayers to be answered.
Trust God
We don’t have to worry about whether the answer is “wait,” “no,” or “yes” if we have faith and sincerely trust God; all we have to do is trust and see if God, in His time, will respond as we have requested.
