Each day of the week in Hinduism is dedicated to a different god from the Hindu pantheon, and many Hindus fast on specific days – Vratas and Upvaas – with numerous folklores associated with fasting on these days.

Friday is dedicated to Mahalakshmi, Santhoshi Ma, Annapuraneshwari, and Durga, and the fasting is known as ‘Solah Shukravar’ Vrats because devotees fast for 16 Fridays in a row.
Saturday is dedicated to removing Lord Shani’s negative influence, and the Vrat is mostly observed by Hindu astrology believers who offer black-colored items such as sesame til, sesame oil, black clothes, and black gram whole.
