How to Pray Against Satan
We understand that we are to pray to God the Father in Jesus’ name.
We Do Not Pray for Satan
Christians are not to pray for or on behalf of Satan because neither he nor his demons are capable of repentance and salvation has not been provided for them. Only those who honor him as “lord” would dare to petition Satan or pray to him for his presence and power.
Stay Alert at All Times
Some have claimed that prayer is the final piece of spiritual armor with which we are to adorn ourselves. Perhaps the best way to approach this difficult question is to consider what Satan is trying to achieve and pray for God to help us counteract his goals.
Pray Against His Schemes

Pray for the Gospel to Prevail
Satan “hindered” the apostle Paul from visiting the church in Thessalonica, according to Paul, so that they might see the glory of the gospel and be saved. There are other ways in which Satan seeks to undermine our ministries.
Pray for Believers to Endure
Knowing the enemy’s strategy will help us focus our requests for God to work in us so that we can resist Satan; if Satan is the source of physical afflictions, we must persistently pray for “gifts of healing” (1 Corinthians 12:9).
Pray for Christian Unity
Shouldn’t God’s people pray for the strength and commitment of married couples to remain faithful and pure in their sexual relationship? Paul was concerned that Satan would take advantage of a husband and wife’s decision to refrain from sexual relations in order to devote themselves exclusively to prayer.
He Who Is in You
Some may mistakenly believe that praying against Satan’s many schemes or designs is a “fear-based” approach to Christian living, but it is the result of a complete and unwavering confidence in God’s power. May we never forget, in all our prayers, that “he who is in you is greater than he (God) in the world.”
