5 Reasons God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayers
In some cases, we’re not waiting on God; he’s waiting on us. After searching the Scriptures, I’ve discovered at least five reasons why God doesn’t answer our prayers.
1. It could be you’re not a child of God.
Unbelievers’ prayers are not obligated to be answered by God; He may do so, but He has not obligated Himself to do so. The only prayer an unbeliever can be sure God will answer is a prayer of faith and acceptance of His Son as the basis for your sins.
2. It could be your motives or actions.
You can expect your prayers to be hindered if you are disobedient to God (Psalm 66:18; Micah 3:4; 1 Peter 3:7; 1 John 3:21). This is by design so that you can return to the Lord wholeheartedly.
3. It could be your misunderstanding of God’s priorities.
God responds to prayer according to His will (1 John 5:14-15), but our desires are not all equal. For example, my desire to remain faithful to my wife until I die is not on the same level as my desire to nap.
4. It could be that it’s just not time yet.
What do we do when all systems are in place but the answer still hasn’t arrived? We keep praying. It’s possible that circumstances must change before you can accept the answer.
5. It could be God wants to give you more than you’re asking for.
If God is capable of answering prayers, He has promised to do so; the delay is not due to God’s indifference or absence; rather, it is possible that God wants to give you more than a simple answer to your prayer.
