If God Knows The Future, Why Pray?
Do my prayers really make a difference if God knows everything? It doesn’t get any more philosophical than that. You know deep down inside that question matters. It’s not just philosophical pie-in-the-sky for philosophers to work out. You’ve heard the same answers over and over again. “God wants us to talk to him” and “God has predestined our prayers.”
Why bother praying for something if God knows the future? Isn’t it already settled? It’s a good question, but it’s based on a philosophical assumption. To answer it, we need to base our view of God on a different set of assumptions. Although the future doesn’t exist, God knows every possible move that a free-will creature might make u2013 though he doesn’t know which move it will make.
