Where Is God When Things Keep Getting Worse?
My husband abandoned our family, moved away, and eventually filed for divorce, and just as I was coming to terms with one disaster, another raged through.
Afraid and Alone
“I have learned to trust that every time I suffer loss, God is preparing me for something greater” – Philippians 4:13. Joseph endured adversity well because he knew God was with him even in his darkest moments.
God with Us
The Lord was with Joseph (Genesis 39:2u20133, 21, 23), and while God later miraculously delivered Joseph, the beauty of Joseph’s story to me is God’s constant and faithful care of Joseph when his life was bleak.
How Does My Story End?
God delivered Joseph from great pain and disappointment in Joseph’s story; however, my story appears to differ from Joseph’s in that some of my losses cannot or will not be reversed in this life. How do I reconcile this with God’s love? Does God mean everything for my good?
God Is Preparing You
Every one of Joseph’s disappointments was necessary in bringing about God’s magnificent plan. God may be preparing earthly blessings and influence for some of us, but God is preparing an eternal weight of glory that is “beyond all comparison” for every follower of Christ.
