Why God Tells Jeremiah Not to Pray: Jeremiah 7:16
God tells Jeremiah not to pray for the people of Judah in Jeremiah 7:16, but Christians are told to pray on every occasion, so does that mean there are times when we shouldn’t pray?
Jeremiah’s Historical Setting
Jeremiah tells the people that they have been disobeying God by stealing, adultery, and idol worship, and that God did not hesitate to let the tabernacle be destroyed and the ark of the covenant be taken by the Philistines when they treated it like a lucky rabbit’s foot.
Jeremiah should not pray for things to stay the same, with His people believing they are protected from the consequences of their sins because they are near sacred things, because God has a need to clean out His promised land from corruption and a wrong attitude toward His holiness.
