5 things waiting on God taught me
Are you waiting for God to act, lead, respond, direct, or provide? Do you have no idea what’s going to happen next? Waiting is difficult, especially when we know we don’t have control over the outcome.
Waiting is worth it
Waiting on God is an important part of our relationship with him, and it can help us grow spiritually. Waiting does not have to lead to bitterness, anger, or a loss of hope; it can lead to a deeper trust and understanding of who God is and his love for you.
1. I need to cling to the promises found in God’s Word (Psalm 130:5)
Waiting on God can be frightening because we don’t know what will happen. However, the Bible is true, trustworthy, and dependable for all of life, and it will not be changed. With the Bible as our foundation, we can be more certain of who God is in a very uncertain world.
3. I will look more like Jesus after this waiting (Philippians 1:6)
When you accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, you become a member of God’s family, and God begins to work in our lives to help us mature and grow so that we can become more like Jesus. Sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit in us to make us more like Christ.
5. I can trust God to provide for me each day: Daily bread NOT life loaf (Matthew 6:11)
In Matthew 6:5-13, Jesus teaches his followers how to pray to God, saying in verse 11: “Give us this day our daily bread” (ESV). This means that we must take each day as it comes, praying for God to provide just enough. Waiting on God to provide, act, lead, and direct is a normal and necessary part of the Christian life. Waiting can be painful and frustrating, but waiting well will bear new spiritual fruit.
