Who was Kaliya Naag?

कालिया नाग कद्रू का पुत्र और पन्नग जाति का नागराज था। वह पहले रमण द्वीप में निवास करता था। लेकिन पक्षीराज गरुड़ से शत्रुता हो जाने के कारण वह यमुना नदी में रहने लगा था। कालिया नाग के विष के प्रभाव से यमुना नदी में विष फैल गया।

Krishna overcomes Kaliya the dreaded, multi-hooded snake in the River Yamuna and begins to dance on its several hoods. When the heels of Krishna strike the hoods, some break off and then get replaced by new ones. All the while Krishna keeps playing his sweet flute.

Krishna immediately jumped on the hood of Kaliya who had 1000 hoods(not nine heads) . When Kaliya tried to attack Krishna by trying to bite Him, He would jump and actually subdue that hood with which Kaliya tried to bite Him.
