Why Should We Pray?
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.u2014Matthew 18:19-20. The point of prayer is to have perfect and complete oneness with God. James 4:8. Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy. Psalm 116:12, 17.
Other reasons to pray
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective, as Jesus told his disciples. James 5:13-16. Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.
When Should We Pray?
We should walk in constant communion with God, with a constant upward looking of the soul to God, according to R. A. Torrey. We should walk in His presence so habitually that it would be the most natural thing in the world to speak to Him in thanksgiving or in petition even when we wake up in the middle of the night.

Three times a day:
When Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room with the windows facing Jerusalem and prayed three times a day, as he had done before, giving thanks to his God.u2014Daniel 6:10. But I call to God,0 and the Lord saves me.
In the evening:
Jesus spent the rest of the day alone on a mountainside, praying before the burning of incense in the Temple of God.
Before meals:
Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. [Jesus] told the crowd to sit down on the ground, and after giving thanks, he broke the seven loaves and gave them to his disciples.
