Be Specific When You Pray!
When Joel was learning to pray, his parents advised him to be more specific in his prayers, encouraging him to ask for God’s blessing on a specific person or family at a specific time. In First John 5:14, the Bible says that if we ask anything according to God’s will, God hears us.
The Greek word aiteo means “to be adamant in requesting assistance in meeting tangible needs.” It eliminates any suggestion that we are “lowly worms” who have no right to make a request, as well as the image that we must pitifully beg and plead for the things we need. The King James translators translated “petition” as a specific, exact, explicit, precise, detailed request.

In Jesus’ name, I pray that I may approach the Father with confidence and assurance as I make specific, detailed requests; I commit to honoring You with specific requests when I pray; and I commit to glorifying Your Name when the answers are granted!

I intend to be very specific in my prayers because God’s Word contains answers and promises that He wants to bring to pass in my life, and with the Holy Spirit’s help, I will find those answers, discover those promises, and then be very specific in my requests.
