How to Trust God, Even in Difficult Times | Cru
Many of us want to trust God, but how do we know when things are unsteady and uncertain? How do you trust God when you don’t understand what’s going on? When you can’t see a way out? These are valid concerns, and God wants to assist you in answering them.
What Does It Mean to Trust God?
Trusting God means living a life of belief in and obedience to God, even when it’s difficult. The Bible says that God cannot lie and that He always keeps His promises, so trusting God means living a life of belief in and obedience to God, even when it’s difficult.
How to Trust God
When you trust someone, you feel comfortable telling them anything, and God is far more trustworthy than even your most trustworthy friend. When you trust, you turn to God and His word when life gets tough, and you act on obedience (doing what God says in His Word) and trust that He will take care of the rest.
When life throws you a curveball, you can cling to God’s unfailing, unchanging Word. If you don’t run to the Word in difficult times, it’s easier for you to be led into lies about your life and who God is.
2. Confess Unbelief
It’s good to acknowledge that God’s character is good and trustworthy; you can agree with Him that everything He says is true, but you can also tell Him when you don’t believe Him; confession helps you to humble yourself and allows you to grow in trust.
Paul reminded his friend that collaboration is important because it helps us understand God and His plan better. Fellow believers can remind you of God’s character through encouragement and accountability, and community reminds you that you are never alone, even in difficult times, according to Pastor Rick Warren.
4. Remember God and Spend Time With Him
Difficult times may seem to last forever, but they do not, and God is present in both good and bad times. Making a regular time with the Lord when things are going well will help you to continue to go to Him when things are going badly.
Giving thanks combats the lie that everything is bad; even in tragic circumstances, there will be light and grace. Trust grows as you seek God’s presence in what feels dark and heavy.
6. Walk in the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is your constant companion, pointing you to Jesus, comforting and reminding you of the truth, and leading you in obedience. Walking closely with the Spirit will not only provide direction, but it will also remind you that you are not alone.
The Holy Spirit will guide you to what you should do, but sometimes you just have to wait. Continue to seek the Lord faithfully, but wait on His timing and for Him to act on your behalf. He will sustain you and grow your faith while you wait.
When Trust Falters
Even if you don’t see your prayers answered right away, you can trust God to sustain you, provide for you, and be there for you during difficult times. God doesn’t ask you to trust Him blindly; He wants you to get to know him as a person.
What is the first thing you say in a prayer?
Because God is the one to whom we are praying, we begin by addressing Him as “Father in Heaven” or “Heavenly Father.” We address Him as our Heavenly Father because He is the father of our spirits, our creator, and the one to whom we owe everything we have, including our lives.
Why should we put God first?
To truly put God first, you must let go of what others think and follow your heart; when you put God first, you give yourself a voice.
Why must we put our trust in God?
God knows everything we are going through right now and everything we will go through in the future, and he knows the best way to handle every situation so we get the best possible result, and we must trust him with it, following his path and trusting that he knows best, because he does.
What does God say about emptiness?
Emptiness is a wake-up call to turn to God, who is the only One who can turn emptiness into fullness and fill us with His fullness and blessing, even if everything around us remains empty. Emptiness cries out that my life is empty, my motivation is empty, my spirit is empty, and thus I have empty resources.
How do you know when God is telling you something?
Repetition, or when a theme or message jumps out at you repeatedly, is one of the most obvious ways God tries to get your attention. It can be through Scripture, sermons, articles, podcasts, or any other means He chooses.

Can God Be Trusted?
God can only be trusted to keep his promises; he cannot be trusted to keep our agendas. This is why it is so important to have a relationship with God; we can then hold God to the promises he makes to us, rather than assuming that the promises he made to others in biblical times automatically apply to us.
